IPL 2021 Postponed After 4 Players Tested COVID-19 Positive

Mumbai, May 4, 2021 – IPL Season 2021 has been postponed after four players were found positive of covid 19. The BCCI vice president has announced this and the decision has been taken now that it is going to postpone. Now the teams will remain in though in these so-called bio bubbles. It points out the effectiveness of these Bio Bubbles as well and the BCCI is going to analyze this further and take a call next week.

There were already calls on social media about suspending the IPL first up. It is highly insensitive to be cheering cricket and sixers and hattricks while people and relatives and your acquaintances are dying. Perhaps the BCCI has a monetary reason now not to have the IPL for at least a week.

Wriddhiman Saha of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Amit Mishra of the Delhi capitals, and four to five player, supporting staff of the Chennai Super Kings including the Delhi district Cricket Association were tested positive and there was a call amongst the cricketing fraternity to stop the IPL. There was a PIL also which was filed in the Bombay High Court as well as the Delhi High Court to suspend the IPL as soon as possible so that players did not get an update.

But today there was a crucial meeting between the BCCI top officials which was held indeed, in the morning via videoconferencing and therefore, the top BCCI official has confirmed to media that IPL 2021 has been postponed before the decision will be taken next week.

It has not been canceled as of now they are looking for the permissions and the clearances from the government that if they want they can reschedule this particular IPL season in Mumbai, DY Patil Stadium and Wankhede Stadium are two options where the entire teams can remain and they can play the remaining matches. But, at present IPL 2021 season is postponed due to the Covid-19 surge in India.
