Flores was a talented musician and a passionate teacher who touched the lives of many students and colleagues at Peekskill High School, where he taught music and Spanish for over a decade. He was also a devoted husband to his wife, Maria, and a caring father to his two children, Sofia, 10, and Lucas, 7.

A Tragic Loss

According to the police, David Flores was driving home from a rehearsal with his band, The Flores Brothers, when he lost control of his car and crashed into a tree on Route 9. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but the police suspect that icy road conditions may have played a role.

Flores’ death has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and the entire Peekskill community, who have expressed their shock and grief on social media and through tributes.

“David was a wonderful person, a great teacher, and a talented musician. He was always smiling and making everyone laugh. He loved his family more than anything. He will be missed by so many people,” wrote one of his former students on Facebook.

“David was more than a colleague, he was a friend. He was always supportive, helpful, and generous. He had a passion for music and teaching that was contagious. He inspired me and many others to pursue our dreams. He was a bright light in our school and our community. I can’t believe he’s gone,” wrote one of his fellow teachers on Twitter.

Flores was also involved in several community projects, such as volunteering at the local food pantry, tutoring at-risk youth, and raising funds for various causes. He was a devout Catholic and a member of the St. Mary’s Church, where he sang in the choir and played the organ.
