House of the dragon release date, Cast, Plot, Spoiler, Episode 1, Trailer & More:- Thanks to HBO for sending over a review copy, I was able to catch the first episode of House of the Dragon a little early. And of course, this is the nonspoiler review version. And as such, I’ll keep it as short and sweet as possible. The first episode was decent pal, I’d even say borders on being pretty good. That’s not a mark against the show far from it. But I do keep seeing a lot of reviewers saying it’s the best thing ever, it’s better than the original pilot or that Game of Thrones is back. And I have to agree and disagree at the same time.
It’s not better than the Game of Thrones Season 1 pilot, but it does invoke the feeling that we are on some level back to form there’s a lot of the same scenery here from thrones, the violence, the fucking the fighting the iron, throne bickering, and they’re all back. And in fact, I’d even say that if you’re a book fan, you’ll be quite content as casual viewers. On the other hand, if they didn’t prep by rewatching, all of the Game of Thrones will either be confused or indifferent to some of the plot elements. Now, there’s a lot of information here thrown at you all at once.

House Of The Dragon Spoiler: Episode 1
This is what I would argue is the problem with the original pilot and say what you will about season 8, but Dave and Dan did a very good job juggling fan service and unnecessary simplicity in the first season. And there’s some of that here, which is pretty good. Now, of course, we got to talk about the actors. And for the most part, they all did a pretty fantastic job. There wasn’t one performance I was annoyed with. The music was also pretty okay, though I haven’t been blown away by any of it just yet. I’m still waiting on the very last episode to have a verdict on the music, but it’s the same guy who did Game of Thrones.
So I’m sure it’ll be phenomenal. The CGI dragons are well, you know, they’re CGI dragons, if anything, they were cool. But what I was more interested in seeing was what Damon Targaryen was doing and what the king was up to, you know, I’m one of those nerds who enjoy the small council scenes in the original show. And I like them here too. I’ll go into more detail when I do the spoiler review. But so far, so good on that front, all the actors pretty good, the music was fine. The CGI dragons would probably be the weakest thing for me, but it’s probably because I haven’t seen enough of them.
House Of The Dragon Plot, Story & Summary
And maybe the review copies are just not polished on that level just yet. Now for those of you who don’t know, Preston, and I did a rewatch recently of the original Game of Thrones pilot. And I remember watching this episode originally back in 2011. Wanting to see more it ends on such a great cliffhanger that I kind of wish they did the same for this pilot. Now it’s not that I don’t want to see more because I do but I’m not left eagerly waiting for the next episode. It didn’t have that Whoa, what just happened moment for me like, you know, Jamie pushing Bran out of the window did but it wasn’t fanned service.
And there’s some original story material here not in the books that I’m very curious about how they’ll handle that going forward. And for those of you who might state the obvious yes, I do understand that the premise of the pilot is the setup of a lot of the characters and motivation, but it’s still a prequel at the end of the day. And it does spend quite a bit of time setting up some of the things we’ll see in Game of Thrones, which I guess is okay, but I’m mostly wanting the show to stand on its own instead of relying on what came before. It’s tough because we all stand on the shoulders of giants in this case.

The eye of a blue-eyed giant but it will be a difficult path forward for this prequel to stand out on its own, and based on what I saw, I’m hopeful for what comes next but in the end, I am satisfied. I’m not blown away just yet, but I’m not disappointed either. It was decent entertaining and fairly well done.
